Is the door locked to protect me—or to keep me in?
Is the door locked to protect me—or to keep me in?
Inspired by Sartre’s play No Exit, F* the EXIT uses the concept of a sealed space as a starting point: One room. One door. Four performers. Four cultural backgrounds. Four perspectives. One shared way out. Sartre’s simple, timeless image of the closed door becomes a political metaphor.
How do these four characters confront the shared challenge? Who is willing to collaborate in search of a solution? What happens when multiple doors appear—and their only means of communication is through an automated voice?
F* the EXIT begins with the instinctive need for safety, separation, or skepticism toward the unknown—placing it in a contemporary setting to explore it through a new lens. At the core lies an intercultural negotiation with the Other. This process generates a physical dialogue: a testing of collective possibilities, but also of the rifts that divide.
Four divergent characters navigate the tensions between common paths and personal blocks. Are doors a link—or a barrier? A form of safety—or exclusion?
